About the tour

At Your Service Cancún Presents, Chichen-Itza & Valladolid

Located 130 miles from Cancun, Chichén Itzá is the most impressive Mayan city in Yucatán, recently named one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is currently the second most visited archaeological site in Mexico. The feathered serpent at the top of the pyramid represents Quetzalcoatl (known by the Maya as Kukulcán), one of the main deities of ancient Mayan culture.

The ball court for the Mayan game Tlachtli (pok-ta-pok) measures 166 meters long and 68 meters wide, making it the largest in the Americas. Six sculptural reliefs decorate the walls, depicting the victors holding the severed head of a defeated player. At one end stands the Temple of the Jaguars.

The tour includes a visit to Valladolid, where Mayan and Mexican cultures blend with colonial Spanish architecture such as churches and monasteries. Our visit lasts about two and a half hours, giving you time to explore and take pictures.

Next, we visit a cenote — a natural limestone sinkhole exposing underground water. These were used by the ancient Maya for sacrificial offerings. It’s a perfect spot for lunch or a refreshing swim. Please bring comfortable clothes, a swimsuit, towels, and biodegradable sunscreen.
